What Is Chantix?
Now
there is a brand spanking new, effective tool for smokers who
are looking to quit. Chantix (Verenicline tartrate) has been
specially approved
by
the FDA as a smoking cessation aid after actually receiving
priority review.
Chantix is a special prescription medicine to help adults finally
stop smoking.
In
studies, more than one in ten people who actually took Chantix
had nausea, headache, trouble sleeping, or changes in dreams.
In
Chantix studies, nausea was the most common side effect
occurring in about 30% of patients. Generally it was incredibly
mild to moderate
and for most people, but not all, it went completely away.
Most people were not bothered enough to actually stop taking
Chantix. Be sure
to tell your doctor if you have any side effects.
If you have
any side effects with Chantix that bother you or don't
go away, be sure to tell your doctor about them.
Chantix has
not currently been studied in pregnant or nursing women
and is therefore currently not recommended. You should definately
stop smoking before you become pregnant. If you currently take
Chantix, discuss
ways to feed your baby, other than breast feeding, directly
with your doctor.
Chantix is only for adults. Do not use Chantix if
you are currently younger than 18 years old. Because it
is more common for older
people to actually have kidney problems, be sure to talk
directly with your doctor about how your kidneys are working
before you actually take
Chantix. If you currently have kidney problems, be sure
to tell your doctor before actually taking Chantix. Your dose
may definately be lowered.
Tell
your doctor about all other medications you are currently
taking before taking Chantix.
